Biography

Tracy Lynn Goergen was born October 7, 1984, in Thousand Oaks, CA.  At the age of six Tracy asked her parents for riding lessons at the city’s California Lutheran University.  Within two weeks Tracy was jumping fences off the lunge line. After one year of consistent riding her parents bought her first pony, Burgundy.  With Burgundy Tracy won blue ribbon after blue ribbon doing hunter/jumpers, gymkhana, and English pleasure. When Tracy outgrew her beloved pony, 7 years later, she sold her and purchased an off-the-track thoroughbred gelding.  At 16 Tracy met Jodi Cressman, a local dressage trainer and protégé of Hilda Gurney, and began her first assistant job under a dressage trainer.  Knowing nothing about Dressage, Tracy helped break young horses and groom in exchange for some lessons.

After only a few months Tracy, sold on Dressage, put an ad on the web to find a position as an assistant to a dressage trainer.  A few months later, Tracy received a phone call from Becky Oliveira, wife of the late master of classical dressage, Joao Oliveira.  At that time Joao was head trainer at Robinson Lusitanos in Rancho Mirage California, and was looking for an assistant to help train and ride young horses. Tracy went for an interview with Mr. and Mrs. Oliveira and was offered the job that day.  The next week Tracy graduated High School and moved to Rancho Mirage to begin the best training years of her life. Being with Robinson Lusitanos for 2 years, Tracy travelled to Idaho to ride in a promotional movie for the company, moved from Rancho Mirage in the winter and Malibu in the summer, and received multiple lessons a day on stallions trained by Joao and herself.

In her second year of working for Robinson Lusitanos, Tracy was introduced to Avi Cohen, a friend of Joao’s.  Avi gave her her first experience with the P.R.E. by enlisting her to train his 3-year-old stallion Granito III.  Granito was very green at the time, and after months and months of hard work he was ready to show. Tracy’s first P.R.E. show and first show without a trainer at her side, was Celebration 2004 in Santa Barbara, CA.  Granito and Tracy took home National champion and scored in the mid-sixties in dressage. Granito is now in training with Sabine Schut-Kery.

In summer of 2004 Tracy was fortunate enough to meet Barbara Currie of Oak Hill in Agoura, CA. At that time Barbara had one barn with only 2 stallions in it, Doctor and Revoltoso. In addition to Robinson Lusitanos and Avi Cohen, Tracy began training at Oak Hill. Within 4 months Barbara purchased Templado in Spain and imported him to be her new High School Exhibition horse. After meeting Templado Tracy decided it was time to move on from Robinson and pursue the world of the majestic P.R.E. One year later Tracy had a barn of 8 stallions and was competing in dressage and performing in California and Las Vegas for Oak Hill.

Tracy, now a USDF silver medalist, is fortunate to be training out of her neighborhood of Bridle Path Simi Valley CA and is now accepting waiting list only.  Tracy has ridden with Jane Savoie, Judy Berguist, Sabine Schut-Kery, Joao Oliveira, Vaughan Smith, Juan Matute, Christine Traurig, and now regularly rides with Patty Mayer.  The horses of Tracy Lynn Dressage are currently competing in training level through Grand Prix, ETI, western dressage and ranch. Contact to be added to the waitlist.
